Overview

Theory-practice course aimed at energy industry professionals and technicians seeking to deepen their understanding of shale reservoir characterization, with an emphasis on core analysis (drill cores) and application to shale oil & gas projects.

The course combines theoretical classes and hands-on work with real cores from the Vaca Muerta play at the facilities of the Parque Industrial Tecnológico de Florencio Varela (Grupo LCV). Participants will work with high-resolution analytical equipment under the guidance of specialists in sedimentology, petrophysics and rock mechanics.

The teaching team includes CONICET and UBA researchers with active experience in shale projects in Argentina and worldwide.

Objectives

  • Analyze shale reservoir heterogeneity and its implications for unconventional exploration and development.
  • Apply practical methodologies in the analysis of drill cores and cuttings.
  • Integrate geological data to improve horizontal well placement.

Course contents

The program covers the following thematic modules:

Historical perspective
SRV and DRV
Shale reservoirs
